    Ship's bell from tanker SS Esso Baton Rouge, torpedoed by a German U-boat on April 8, 1942 off the coast of St. Simons Island, Georgia. The bell has the ship's name and the year 1938 inscribed on it. (On exhibit at the World War II Home Front Museum.)

  19. Bowl, Punch - Couper Punch Bowl

    Couper punch bowl. A porcelain punch bowl with pink and green floral decoration on a white ground. Deep red (oxblood?) trimmed in gold swags the outside rim and gold rings circle the base and foot of the bowl. A wide gold band just inside the rim and a pastoral scene of 2 cottages and a fence with a mountain background are painted inside the bowl.

Owned by John Couper Stiles (1865-1956) of Brunswick, Georgia. Silversmith - Peter L. Krider of Philadelphia. Piece marked on bottom: "925/1000" and "sterling."
